The distinctive candy cane jersey of red and white stripes is a colour combination embraced by multiple iconic football clubs across Europe and South America since the beginning of the 20th century. With English clubs being one of the early adopters of this palette, it quickly became a staple across the footballing world owing partly to cheap availability of the cloth in these colours at the time and partly because red and white were symbolically associated with pride and passion by the fans of these clubs.
Our interpretation is a rib textured red and white fabric contrasted with a powder blue collar and cuffs, topped off with a Sunday Stripes crest – a subtle nod to the minimalism of the football jersey in a pre-sponsorship era.
